TL;DR
Sr Software Dev Engineer III, RDS for Oracle (AWS/Oracle): Designing and building managed database services for mission-critical applications at massive scale with an accent on distributed systems, performance, security, and high availability. Focus on kernel-level optimizations, storage architecture, customer-facing APIs, database automation, and integrating AI and ML into RDS Oracle capabilities.

What you will do
- Design and build complex features for managed RDS for Oracle database services scaling to millions of database instances.
- Lead the architecture of distributed database systems, including performance, high availability, scalability, storage, and Linux-based integrations.
- Develop integrations between Oracle and AWS services such as EC2, VPC, and IAM, along with customer-facing APIs and operational tooling.
- Act as a technical lead for enterprise database solutions, gathering customer requirements and translating them into technical specifications and product roadmap items.
- Build monitoring, troubleshooting, automation, security, and compliance capabilities, including AI and ML enhancements for database performance and ease of use.
- Mentor engineers, conduct design reviews, lead agile development cycles, and produce technical documentation for internal teams and customers.
Requirements
- Experience mentoring, serving as a technical lead, or leading an engineering team.
- Experience leading the architecture and design of reliable, scalable systems and applying design patterns.
- Professional, non-internship software development experience, including development within the last three years.
- Programming experience in at least one modern language such as Java, C++, or C#, with object-oriented design.
- Experience with the full software development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control, build processes, testing, and operations.
