Senior Machine Learning Engineer (AI)

Location: London, UK — hybrid; occasional on-site work with government clients may be required.

What you will do

• Lead technical scoping and architectural decisions for high-impact machine learning systems.
• Design and build production-grade ML software, tools, and scalable infrastructure.
• Define and implement engineering standards for deploying machine learning at scale.
• Collaborate with engineers, data scientists, product managers, and commercial teams to solve client challenges.
• Act as a technical advisor to customers and partners, translating complex concepts into actionable strategies.
• Mentor junior engineers and help shape the engineering culture and technical depth of the team.

Requirements

• Significant experience across the full machine learning lifecycle and operationalising models built with TensorFlow or PyTorch.
• Deep software engineering expertise and strong Python skills.
• Hands-on experience with cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or GCP, including architecture, security, and infrastructure.
• Extensive experience with Docker and Kubernetes for building and managing applications at scale.
• Strong ownership, autonomy, and communication skills when working with technical teams and senior non-technical stakeholders.
• Eligibility for UK Security Clearance (SC) may be required.
