Inpatient Audit Specialist PRN (Healthcare Coding)

What you will do

• Perform inpatient facility coding audits for onboarding, focused reviews, service-level agreements, and other review types.
• Assign and validate codes and related coding elements using MS DRG and APR DRG systems.
• Provide concise, evidence-based rationales for audit findings, including documentation references and locations.
• Monitor regulatory changes and provide coder education through the auditing process.
• Prioritize multiple cases concurrently to maintain workflow quality and turnaround times.
• Support customer-focused consulting, compliance assessments, payer reviews, and coding workflow reviews.

Requirements

• 5+ years of facility inpatient coding experience and/or auditing.
• CCS certification required; RHIA or RHIT preferred.
• Maintain a 95% DRG accuracy rate.
• Experience with Epic, Cerner, and other prevalent electronic medical record systems.
• Strong organizational, teamwork, leadership, professionalism, flexibility, and customer-service skills.
• Must be able to work remotely from the United States.

Nice to have

• Spinal coding experience.
• Excellent query-writing skills.
• Availability for approximately 20 hours per week.
