Quant Research Lead (ML)

Location: Remote work from anywhere in the world; flexible schedule with assistance with relocation.

Salary: $9,000–$12,000 per month net.

What you will do

• Own the end-to-end idea-to-production pipeline, including research intake, prioritization, backtest standards, promotion gates, live monitoring, and strategy decay reviews.
• Build and manage a pod of 3–6 junior researchers, including hiring, task setting, daily code reviews, development plans, and progression to trading desks.
• Define and enforce rigorous validation standards covering purged and combinatorial cross-validation, multiple-testing control, and leakage prevention.
• Drive ML-for-execution initiatives with trading desks, including fill quality, markouts, and queue-aware modeling.
• Maintain a personal research contribution each quarter and coordinate the handoff of researchers and production strategies to desk leads and the production owner.

Requirements

• 5+ years of experience in quantitative research or trading with a live production track record.
• 2+ years of direct management experience with at least two researchers, including hiring, task setting, reviews, and a difficult people decision.
• Strong Python skills and experience with a modern ML stack, with the ability and willingness to review code daily.
• Practical experience with rigorous validation methodology and understanding of the backtest-to-production gap.
• English: B2+ required.
