Team Lead (Platform Backend Team)

Location: Remote from anywhere in the world with a flexible schedule

Salary: From $8,000/month gross

Proprietary algorithmic trading firm managing the full trading cycle across equities, derivatives, options, commodity futures, rates futures, and other asset classes using high- and medium-frequency trading strategies.

What you will do

• Lead a team of five Rust engineers building middle-office services end-to-end for internal stakeholders.
• Hire, onboard, develop, and evaluate team members while providing direct and useful feedback.
• Set engineering priorities, maintain a healthy backlog, and manage delivery from idea through production.
• Gather requirements from traders, compliance, and other stakeholders and translate them into technical direction.
• Make trade-offs between speed, quality, cost, and flexibility, and remove blockers to keep initiatives moving.

Requirements

• 3+ years of experience leading engineering teams of four or more people.
• Experience running performance cycles, managing scope, and owning delivery.
• Backend engineering background with the ability to understand architecture and participate in technical discussions.
• Ability to evaluate success through business impact on PnL, cost, or risk.
• Proactive approach to clarifying vague requirements and changing priorities.

Nice to have

• Experience in a midsize startup.
• Experience managing team budgets, including headcount, infrastructure, bonuses, and raises.
• Background in Rust, C++, Java, or .NET.
• Experience in trading, fintech, or high-performance systems.
• Hands-on experience with LLMs or AI-assisted development tools.
