Associate, Leveraged Finance - Commercial Banking - Montreal - Bilingual

Location: Montreal, Quebec, Canada. The position is based in the Montreal office; the proportion of on-site and remote work will be discussed during the interview.

What you will do

• Prepare and present financing proposals for clients and prospective clients.
• Perform financial and non-financial analysis, credit assessment, risk analysis, and transaction due diligence.
• Structure financing terms, including security, covenants, and pricing, and prepare credit recommendations for senior management.
• Support negotiations, review legal documents, and help close structured and acquisition financing transactions.
• Monitor a portfolio of senior and subordinated debt accounts, borrower relationships, account performance, and industry trends.
• Develop relationships with clients, internal stakeholders, industry contacts, and private equity sponsors across Eastern Canada.

Requirements

• Bachelor of Business Administration or a similar undergraduate degree.
• Experience in commercial credit and/or equity investment, including lending principles, credit assessment, structuring, and industry analysis.
• Knowledge of commercial lending and specialized senior and subordinated lending products, such as structured financing, acquisition financing, project financing, or loan syndication.
• Strong written and verbal communication, organizational skills, attention to detail, and ability to meet tight deadlines.
• Fluency in French and English is required to serve clients in the community.
• Legal eligibility to work in Canada and, where applicable, a valid work or study permit are required.

Nice to have

• MBA, CA, CBV, CMA, CFA, or other financial education.
