TL;DR

Head of Development (Vue/TypeScript/PHP/Laravel): Defining the technical direction and leading the development team behind MEGA's energy and telecom ecosystem platforms with an accent on architecture, delivery quality, people management, and AI-augmented development. Focus on arbitrating system-design decisions, validating estimates, improving testing and CI/CD, and setting safe governance for AI tools.

Location: Liège, Belgium; hybrid model with 3 remote days and 2 on-site days in Liège

What you will do

Define and own the technical direction, including architecture principles, standards, tooling, and AI-augmented development practices.
Make and arbitrate architecture and cross-cutting technical decisions.
Challenge and validate estimates, quotes, delivery objectives, KPIs, and continuous improvement initiatives.
Raise engineering quality through code review, testing, CI/CD, and delivery-performance practices.
Coach, mentor, motivate, and retain developers and technical leads while managing objectives, performance, and career growth.
Recruit and structure full-stack development teams, stay hands-on in code and architecture, and communicate technical trade-offs to business stakeholders and founders.

Requirements

8–10+ years of software engineering experience, including several years leading and line-managing development teams.
Strong full-stack experience with architecture and system design at scale.
Experience with Vue 3, TypeScript, PHP, Laravel microservices, APIs, Docker, Kubernetes, CI/CD, and disciplined testing, or the ability to ramp up quickly.
Experience with technical direction, estimation, agile delivery, people management, coaching, and performance development.
French and English are required.

Nice to have

Experience in energy, utilities, or telecom.
Experience in a product or scale-up environment.
Dutch language skills.
