IT Infrastructure Engineer (Windows, Active Directory & VMware)

Location: Porto, Portugal; full-time employment based in Portugal

PSI is a privately owned Contract Research Organization with approximately 30 years of experience supporting pharmaceutical clinical trials across multiple countries and continents.

What you will do

• Design, implement, maintain, and improve Windows and Linux server infrastructure.
• Manage virtualization, storage, backup, monitoring, patch management, configuration management, and access control platforms.
• Administer Windows Active Directory and Public Key Infrastructure, and support enterprise email and business systems.
• Plan and execute operating system patching, infrastructure upgrades, qualification, validation, troubleshooting, and performance optimization.
• Lead small and medium-sized infrastructure projects and participate in larger cross-domain initiatives.
• Maintain asset inventories and technical documentation while coordinating infrastructure vendors and collaborating with network, connectivity, cloud, and modern workplace teams.

Requirements

• University degree in IT, Computer Science, or a related field.
• Full professional proficiency in English, written and spoken.
• Strong hands-on experience with Windows Server and Active Directory.
• Experience administering Windows and/or Linux servers, virtualization technologies, enterprise infrastructure services such as PKI and email/MTA platforms, and backup and disaster recovery solutions.
• Experience designing, implementing, and managing infrastructure projects, monitoring, patch management, and configuration management.
• Ability to troubleshoot complex infrastructure issues and maintain detailed technical documentation.

Nice to have

• Experience with VMware, Proxmox, Hyper-V, Microsoft Azure, hybrid infrastructure, Azure Arc, or Azure Update Manager.
• Experience with Zabbix, PowerShell, infrastructure automation, Microsoft Exchange, Sendmail, Postfix, Veeam, or similar technologies.
• Familiarity with ITIL, change management, qualification, validation processes, and relevant infrastructure certifications.
