Senior Legal Counsel (Healthcare AI)

Location: Madrid, Spain; hybrid work with a minimum of 8 days per month in the office

What you will do

• Provide legal advice on European commercial, contractual, regulatory, litigation, privacy, and day-to-day legal matters.
• Structure, draft, and negotiate SaaS, enterprise licensing, subscription, implementation, services, reseller, distribution, and strategic alliance agreements.
• Draft and review content licensing, business associate, and data processing agreements, including arrangements involving RAG models, LLM training, and emerging AI technologies.
• Advise leadership on contractual and regulatory risks related to product development, sales, marketing, and new healthcare technology offerings.
• Advise on healthcare information technology, intellectual property, GDPR, international privacy, medical device, pharmaceutical, and other healthcare regulations.
• Manage outside counsel and collaborate with global legal, compliance, IP, litigation, regulatory, employment, and M&A teams.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree and LLB or equivalent law degree.
• Admission to practice law in the jurisdiction where the candidate resides.
• At least 7 years of progressively responsible corporate and commercial legal experience.
• Hands-on experience with healthcare transactional and regulatory matters, preferably in both a top-tier law firm and an established in-house legal department.
• Strong understanding of healthcare information technology, digital health, software licensing, SaaS subscriptions, GDPR, and healthcare laws and regulations in the U.S. and EU.
• Ability to work from the Madrid office at least 8 days per month.
