Senior Site Reliability Engineer (Kubernetes)

Location: Remote, New York

Salary: $170,000–$185,000 per year in New York

What you will do

• Design, build, operate, and evolve GIPHY’s cloud environment, CDN infrastructure, Kubernetes clusters, and CI/CD platforms.
• Operate and optimize AWS resources for reliability, performance, scalability, and cost efficiency.
• Implement multi-region Kubernetes clusters and improve existing Kubernetes environments.
• Partner with engineering teams to troubleshoot complex production and infrastructure issues.
• Respond to incidents and drive reliability improvements based on incident learnings.
• Evaluate agentic development and AI-assisted engineering opportunities for platforms and workflows.

Requirements

• Expert-level experience with IaaS operations and IaC, particularly Terraform and Atlantis.
• Extensive experience with Docker, Kubernetes, and AWS infrastructure, including EKS, S3, EC2, and VPC.
• Strong Linux, networking, systems engineering, reliability, and performance troubleshooting skills.
• Experience with CI/CD and deployment tools such as Jenkins, GitHub Actions, Helm, Spinnaker, and ArgoCD.
• Programming experience in one or more languages such as Python, Java, Go, or Rust.
• Experience with observability platforms such as Datadog and AWS CloudWatch, plus strong problem-solving, communication, autonomy, and initiative.
