What you will do
- Design, develop, and maintain data pipelines and ETL/ELT workflows for machine learning, NLP, information retrieval, and advanced analytics.
- Prepare, transform, curate, and validate structured and unstructured grants and financial data.
- Build feature engineering, document processing, chunking, embeddings, dataset preparation, RAG, search, and retrieval workflows.
- Implement data quality, validation, provenance, lineage, versioning, metadata, and source-traceability controls.
- Troubleshoot and optimize data integrations and processing workflows while collaborating with data engineering, data science, software engineering, and AI/ML teams.
- Document and operate data engineering capabilities across secure Federal on-premises, cloud, and hybrid environments while meeting security, privacy, accessibility, records-management, ownership, and governance requirements.
Requirements
- Experience building, integrating, and operating data pipelines for machine learning, NLP, information retrieval, or advanced analytics.
- Hands-on experience with feature engineering, document processing, embeddings, curated datasets, data transformation, and reproducible workflows.
- Strong proficiency in Python and SQL, plus experience with structured and unstructured data.
- Experience implementing data quality, validation, provenance, metadata, versioning, lineage, and source-traceability controls.
- Strong technical communication, documentation, troubleshooting, problem-solving, and cross-functional collaboration skills.
- U.S. citizenship and the ability to obtain and maintain Top Secret eligibility are required; an active Top Secret clearance is highly preferred.
Nice to have
- Federal financial, grants-management, budget, payment-system, award-oversight, or financial-reporting data experience.
- Experience with Linux, PostgreSQL, Microsoft SQL Server, Java, .NET, Jenkins, CI/CD, self-hosted Azure DevOps, Kubernetes, or Rancher.
- Experience with open-source AI/ML infrastructure, RAG, vector search, semantic search, or embeddings pipelines.
- Familiarity with Federal data governance, security, privacy, and compliance requirements.
