Lead Mechanical Engineer (Automation)

What you will do

• Lead and coordinate mechanical engineering activities across complex automation projects from concept development and design through manufacturing, installation, and commissioning.
• Develop and review mechanical concepts, layouts, detailed designs, drawings, bills of materials, calculations, and technical reports.
• Ensure compliance with machinery directives, safety standards, CE requirements, and internal engineering guidelines.
• Manage internal engineers and external engineering resources while providing technical leadership and mentoring.
• Conduct design reviews, technical evaluations, and risk assessments, and support procurement through technical specifications and supplier evaluations.
• Support manufacturing, installation, commissioning, and troubleshooting while collaborating with project managers, electrical and software engineers, customers, suppliers, and external partners.

Requirements

• Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Mechanical Technology, or a related technical discipline.
• 7–10 years of experience in mechanical design and development of customer-specific machinery or automation solutions.
• Experience as a Lead Engineer or technical lead on complex engineering projects, with the ability to manage multiple projects and changing priorities.
• Strong experience with 3D CAD systems such as Autodesk Inventor, SolidWorks, or similar tools.
• Knowledge of mechanical design principles, manufacturing processes, material selection, tolerancing, machine safety, CE marking, risk assessment, and relevant industry standards.
• Excellent written and spoken English is required.

Nice to have

• Experience with material handling, intralogistics, automation systems, ERP or PLM systems.
• Experience delivering machinery to the North American market.
