What you will do
- Carry out setting out for earthworks, drainage, pipelines, reinforced concrete structures, foundations, roads, steelwork, and related civil engineering works.
- Interpret engineering drawings and specifications, establish site control points and benchmarks, and verify dimensions, levels, and coordinates.
- Maintain survey records, setting-out data, as-built information, daily site records, and progress documentation.
- Perform quality assurance inspections and identify design discrepancies, clashes, or site issues.
- Provide technical guidance to subcontractors and liaise with clients, designers, site managers, project engineers, and project teams.
- Follow HSEQ procedures, RAMS, environmental controls, and safe working practices while supporting project planning and delivery.
Requirements
- Experience as a Setting Out Engineer in civil engineering, utilities, infrastructure, or construction.
- Competence with Leica, Trimble, or Topcon survey equipment and automatic levels.
- Strong understanding of engineering drawings, construction specifications, quality assurance processes, and tolerances.
- Experience setting out drainage, reinforced concrete, highways, pipelines, and structural works.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, with strong communication and problem-solving skills.
- Full UK Driving Licence required.
Nice to have
- HNC, HND, or degree in Civil Engineering or a related discipline.
- Water or wastewater industry experience.
- GPS/GNSS surveying, digital data capture, or AutoCAD experience.
- EUSR Water Hygiene Card, SMSTS or SSSTS, CSCS Card, Temporary Works awareness, or Confined Space training.
