About the Role

You will own daily and monthly reconciliations for assigned processor and bank accounts, covering timing differences, reversals, fees, foreign exchange, trade differences, duplicates, and unsettled transactions. You will investigate the root causes of breaks and follow up with payment partners and banks until outstanding funds are recovered. You will prepare month-end reports and audit-ready supporting evidence, maintain reconciliation documentation, and help resolve customer disputes within agreed service levels. You will also use Python and AI coding tools to automate data ingestion, normalisation, matching, and exception reporting. As the internal reconciliation tool develops, you will write matching rules, test them against known-good outputs, document their logic, and escalate recurring issues for upstream resolution.

Requirements

• Hold a bachelor's or master's degree in business economics, industrial economics, finance, statistics, applied mathematics, data science, or a comparable quantitative subject
• Read, write, and debug Python scripts for data work using pandas or an equivalent tool
• Have used AI coding tools to build a working solution and be able to explain how it works
• Demonstrate strong numerical reasoning and comfort working with large datasets
• Explain figures and their underlying reasoning clearly
• Use Excel at an advanced level
• Work accurately under month-end deadlines and escalate uncertain issues
• Communicate fluently in written and spoken English
• Have the legal right to work in Norway
• An internship, thesis, or personal project involving end-to-end sourcing, cleaning, analysis, and presentation of real data is desirable
• Exposure to payments, banking, accounting, or audit is desirable
• Understanding of how profit and loss, balance sheet, and cash flow statements connect is desirable

Responsibilities

• Own end-to-end daily and monthly reconciliation for assigned processor and bank accounts
• Investigate reconciliation breaks and identify their root causes
• Follow up with payment partners and banks until unsettled funds are recovered
• Produce month-end reports and supporting evidence to audit standards
• Maintain current reconciliation documentation
• Work with Customer Service, Engineering, and Product to resolve customer disputes within SLA
• Write Python scripts to automate ingestion, normalisation, matching, and exception reporting
• Use AI coding tools to develop reviewed reconciliation automations
• Help build the internal reconciliation tool by writing and testing matching rules
• Document automation and matching logic
• Escalate recurring reconciliation breaks to the relevant upstream owners
