Associate Engineer (Chemical Engineering)

Location: Thousand Oaks, California, United States; onsite role with up to 20% domestic and international travel

What you will do

• Design and execute experiments for chemical process development, optimization, characterization, and scale-up.
• Apply modeling techniques, engineering principles, and statistical analysis to evaluate and improve processes.
• Prepare technical documentation covering process understanding, technology transfer, risk assessment, facility fit, and process characterization.
• Provide technical expertise for laboratory equipment and systems.
• Support manufacturing issue resolution, troubleshooting, process improvement, and equipment commissioning.
• Collaborate with Manufacturing, Process Development, Quality, engineering, and scientific teams.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree, or an associate degree with four years of engineering experience, or a high school diploma/GED with six years of engineering experience.
• Academic background in Chemical Engineering is preferred.
• Experience with process scale-up, technology transfer, and synthetic or hybrid drug substance manufacturing is preferred.
• Knowledge of first-principles modeling, including reaction kinetics, mass transfer, separations, distillation, isolation, drying, and hydrodynamics, is preferred.
• Knowledge of analytical and solid-state characterization techniques such as HPLC, GC, MS, NMR, FTIR, LOD, TOC, FBRM, and particle size determination is preferred.
• Experience with statistical analysis, design of experiments, plant operations, safety practices, and process development or process engineering laboratories is preferred.
