Cyber Test Engineer (Cybersecurity)

Location: Remote, based in or associated with Rome, New York, USA; travel up to 25% may be required.

Salary: $61,900–$141,000 annualized USD.

What you will do

• Test and evaluate systems using a white-box adversarial approach.
• Support Air Force clients and assess systems against NIST 800-53 Risk Management Framework security controls.
• Analyze filtering capabilities and data flows within system architectures.
• Assess Mandatory Access Controls and Discretionary Access Controls.
• Use Linux command-line tools and scripting to automate basic tasks.

Requirements

• Experience with Linux command line, networking concepts, and virtualization.
• Experience scripting in Ruby, Python, or Bash and automating basic tasks.
• Active Secret clearance is required.
• High school diploma or GED.
• Ability to obtain a DoD IAT Level II-compliant Security+ CE certification within 120 days of starting.
• Ability to travel up to 25% of the time.

Nice to have

• Experience with test plans, technical documentation, penetration testing, or adversarial emulation.
• Experience with NIST 800-53 controls and system hardening.
• Knowledge of Kali Linux, Wireshark, Tripwire, Burp Suite, or Metasploit.
• TS/SCI clearance, a master’s degree, or certifications such as OSCP, CISSP, CASP, Red Hat CSA, or GPEN.
