Respiratory Therapist - Adult Critical Care

Salary: $42.00–$47.41 per hour, based on full-time equivalent

What you will do

• Provide respiratory care for patients of all age groups with cardiopulmonary dysfunction.
• Initiate, manage, monitor, and wean patients from invasive and non-invasive mechanical ventilation.
• Administer oxygen, aerosolized medications, positive-pressure breathing, nitric oxide, and other prescribed respiratory therapies.
• Support critical-care rounds, high-risk deliveries, cardiopulmonary resuscitation, and in-house or interhospital transport of mechanically ventilated patients.
• Monitor blood gases, pulse oximetry, end-tidal CO2, transcutaneous oxygen and carbon dioxide, and other diagnostic measurements.
• Provide ECMO specialist support, troubleshoot circuits and emergencies, document care, and assist with clinical education and quality improvement.

Requirements

• Associate’s degree from an accredited Respiratory Care program.
• Massachusetts respiratory care license required.
• Registered Respiratory Therapist or Certified Respiratory Therapist credential; RRT is required if employed at Tufts Medical Center.
• Three years of experience as a Registered Respiratory Therapist.
• Basic Life Support certification.
• Knowledge of mechanical ventilation, non-invasive therapy, high-flow oxygen therapy, artificial airways, aerosolized medication administration, and cardiopulmonary physiology.
