Senior C++ Engineer L2 (C++)

Location: Remote from Lima, Bogota, Medellin, Ciudad de México, Ciudad Autónoma de Buenos Aires (CABA), São Paulo, San Jose, or Santiago

What you will do

• Refactor existing C++ components to improve maintainability, readability, performance, and code quality.
• Identify and resolve defects, inefficiencies, architectural issues, and technical debt while preserving existing functionality.
• Collaborate with architects, technical leads, and engineers on safe, incremental refactoring strategies.
• Conduct code reviews and promote software engineering best practices.
• Improve unit test coverage and validate refactored functionality.
• Document technical findings, design decisions, and refactoring approaches.

Requirements

• Strong professional experience developing production applications in C++.
• Experience working with large, legacy, or long-lived enterprise codebases and reverse-engineering poorly documented systems.
• Knowledge of object-oriented design principles, design patterns, software engineering practices, memory management, and performance optimization.
• Experience debugging complex systems, performing root cause analysis, and reducing technical debt.
• Experience with source control systems such as Git.
• Strong communication skills and ability to collaborate in distributed teams.

Nice to have

• Experience improving testability and automated test coverage in legacy applications.
• Familiarity with static code analysis, profiling, and performance diagnostic tools.
• Experience in regulated or mission-critical environments where backward compatibility is required.
• Experience with AI-assisted development tools such as GitHub Copilot or Claude Code.
• Experience supporting incremental modernization while maintaining architecture constraints.
