Technician, Facility Services, Exterior Services-DOT

Location: Fredericksburg, Virginia, United States; onsite facility-based role

Salary: $21.00–$39.00 per hour, plus possible premiums of $0.35–$3.00 per hour.

What you will do

• Operate and maintain exterior services for an assigned Walmart facility, including landscaping, gardening, snow and ice management, walkway clearing, and seasonal maintenance.
• Operate, inspect, and safely maneuver heavy machinery, powered equipment, vehicles, forklifts, and material-handling equipment.
• Assess replacement and improvement needs, develop scopes of work and cost estimates, and support sustainable facility upgrades.
• Prepare budgets, compare prices, approve purchases, submit warranty claims, and process maintenance invoices and operational reports.
• Lead and coach third-party service providers, conduct performance evaluations, and direct quality assurance inspections.
• Maintain work vehicles, coordinate required servicing, complete safety checks, and ensure compliance with Walmart, OSHA, EPA, DOT, and environmental guidelines.

Requirements

• Must be 21 years of age or older and hold a valid state-issued driver's license.
• Ability to read and speak English is required under Federal Motor Carrier Safety Regulations.
• Successful completion of a DOT physical and pre-hire medical certification is required.
• Two years of experience in the landscaping or gardening industry.
• Must meet applicable driving-record requirements, including restrictions on recent DUI, DWI, OUI, reckless-driving convictions, moving violations, serious traffic violations, and preventable accidents.
• Ability to operate heavy machinery and powered equipment in accordance with training, certification, and safety procedures.

Nice to have

• Associate's degree or equivalent in engineering, maintenance, construction management, or a related field.
• Experience managing third-party providers.
• Intermediate skills with word-processing, spreadsheet, email, and presentation software.
• Spanish-speaking proficiency.
• Applicable state or local licensing.
