Java Backend Engineer, Global Travel Rule (Java/Web3)

What you will do

• Design, build, and maintain backend services and RESTful APIs for compliance and analytics products.
• Own features from technical design through deployment, monitoring, and production improvements.
• Build data pipelines that ingest, normalize, and index on-chain activity across multiple blockchains.
• Contribute to the architecture of new compliance capabilities and translate regulatory requirements into technical designs.
• Model data and optimize queries across relational and NoSQL databases at scale.
• Improve service reliability, observability, and performance while collaborating with compliance and product specialists.

Requirements

• 3+ years of experience building production backend systems with Java.
• Strong knowledge of Spring Boot, JVM fundamentals, concurrency, and memory behavior.
• Solid SQL and data-modeling skills, including diagnosing slow queries.
• Experience designing and operating web-facing services at scale, including request handling, caching, rate limiting, and idempotency.
• Working proficiency in both Chinese and English, spoken and written.
• Daily experience with AI coding agents such as Claude Code or Codex, plus the ability to assess where human supervision is needed.

Nice to have

• AWS production experience with ECS/EKS, RDS, S3, SQS, IAM, or CloudWatch.
• Blockchain or crypto experience, including node RPC integration, on-chain indexing, wallet, or transaction infrastructure.
• Kafka or similar streaming-platform experience.
• Experience in regulated environments such as financial services, payments, AML/KYC, or RegTech.
• Familiarity with the FATF Travel Rule, sanctions screening, or transaction monitoring.
