Process / Mechanical Project Engineer (Pharma)

Location: Onsite at a pharmaceutical facility in Athlone, Ireland

What you will do

• Coordinate and manage process-related projects from planning through implementation and handover.
• Lead troubleshooting and structured problem-solving for process equipment, while coaching engineering, maintenance, and operations staff.
• Provide technical support for equipment installation, commissioning, new product introduction, and CAPEX projects.
• Own operational readiness activities, including maintenance job plans, procedures, spares identification, and transition into operations.
• Lead process safety and equipment investigations, reliability improvements, technical training, and KPI tracking.
• Plan technical support for manufacturing and shutdown schedules while maintaining GMP, safety, quality, and cost standards.

Requirements

• At least 3 years of relevant technical engineering experience in the pharmaceutical or biotechnology industry.
• BSc in pharmaceutical, chemical, or mechanical engineering, or an equivalent qualification.
• Experience with project planning and management, equipment or process issue resolution, and structured problem-solving.
• Strong knowledge of regulatory requirements and current health and safety legislation.
• Strong technical, communication, teamwork, initiative, and vendor-management skills.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively in an onsite pharmaceutical manufacturing environment.

Nice to have

• Experience with aseptic filling processes.
• Additional project management experience.
