International Controller - Associate (Finance)

Location: Lisbon, Portugal; office work Monday–Thursday with remote work on Friday

What you will do

• Support accounting, financial close, and reporting for multiple international legal entities.
• Prepare and review journal entries, accruals, prepayments, intercompany transactions, reconciliations, trial balances, and management accounts.
• Coordinate with local accounting providers and internal stakeholders on corporate tax, VAT/GST, filings, deadlines, and tax audits.
• Prepare statutory financial statements, audit schedules, reconciliations, and supporting documentation.
• Perform bank reconciliations, monitor cash positions, and process payments and intercompany funding transactions.
• Improve accounting processes and controls while supporting automation and finance transformation initiatives.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
• 2–5 years of accounting, audit, or financial reporting experience.
• Strong understanding of accounting principles and financial statements.
• Advanced Excel skills; experience with NetSuite or another ERP system is advantageous.
• Excellent written and verbal English communication skills.
• Strong attention to detail, proactive execution, and the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.

Nice to have

• Experience at a Big Four accounting firm.
• Experience with multinational entities or international accounting environments.
• Exposure to corporate tax compliance and audit processes.
