Senior Backend Engineer (Fintech)

Location: Hybrid role based in Alvalade, Lisbon, Portugal, with flexibility to work remotely

What you will do

• Own complex backend features end to end, delivering robust, secure, performant, and scalable software.
• Design backend systems and contribute to technical decisions involving APIs, frameworks, architecture, and tooling.
• Identify technical debt and improve developer tooling, build processes, system architecture, and deployment efficiency.
• Promote maintainable code, automated testing, CI/CD integration, and clean architecture practices.
• Mentor junior and mid-level engineers through code reviews, pair programming, and knowledge sharing.
• Collaborate with product managers, designers, and stakeholders to translate business requirements into technical solutions.

Requirements

• Senior-level experience delivering software products through design, development, release, and market launch.
• Strong backend development experience with willingness to contribute to frontend application development.
• Experience building SaaS and cloud-based applications.
• Experience with C#, Python, Nuxt, PostgreSQL, and AWS; expertise in every technology is not required.
• Fluency in Portuguese and English is required.
• Understanding of IT infrastructure, software architecture, business requirements, and technical leadership.
