Staff Full-Stack Engineer (Java/AWS)

Location: Hybrid in Makati, Philippines, with 3 days on-site per week; 5 days on-site during initial training. Night-shift schedule supporting the New York office, with regular overlap with U.S. Eastern time.

Salary: PHP 160,000–250,000 gross per month, inclusive of night differentials, plus a discretionary annual performance bonus of up to 8% of annual base salary.

What you will do

• Own major product features from problem definition and technical design through implementation, deployment, monitoring, and production support.
• Design, build, and maintain backend services with Java and Spring, while evolving database architecture, data models, and SQL queries.
• Build production-quality frontend features and use AI-assisted development tools while maintaining testing, security, review, and maintainability standards.
• Deploy, monitor, troubleshoot, and support AWS applications, including incident response, root-cause analysis, and reliability improvements.
• Partner with Product, Operations, and business stakeholders to translate operational problems into effective technical solutions.
• Establish engineering standards, production-support practices, and technical processes while interviewing, mentoring, and reviewing the work of other engineers.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university; computer science, software engineering, or a related technical field is preferred.
• Typically 8 or more years of professional software engineering experience, or equivalent Staff-level technical ownership and impact.
• Strong Java and Spring or Spring Boot experience, with deep backend development and production database ownership.
• Strong relational database design, data modeling, performance optimization, production database management, and advanced SQL skills.
• Professional frontend experience, AWS production operations, monitoring, troubleshooting, incident response, and lifecycle ownership.
• Strong written and verbal English communication skills and regular working-hour overlap with U.S. Eastern time are required. Experience with GDPR, SOC 2, ISO 27001, or comparable security and privacy controls is also required.

Nice to have

• Experience with Vue.js or another modern JavaScript frontend framework, Kotlin, or Python.
• Experience integrating generative AI models or building AI-enabled CRM, workflow, search, or knowledge-management features.
• Infrastructure as code, CI/CD, observability, cloud security, or platform-engineering experience.
• Experience interviewing, hiring, mentoring, or providing technical leadership to engineers.
