Frontend Software Engineer, Media Player (React)

Location: Remote - United States

Salary: $165,000–$229,000 USD per year, plus potential equity and commission depending on the position offered.

What you will do

• Build the next version of Reddit's web media experience for video and audio content.
• Design and implement fullstack solutions for the media player using React and TypeScript alongside backend APIs in Go and Python.
• Develop seamless, low-latency playback experiences and interactive tools for creators and users.
• Contribute across the full development cycle, including technical design, development, testing, experimentation, analysis, and launch.
• Collaborate with product, design, client engineering, and platform engineering teams to improve media performance across Reddit.
• Review code and design documents, establish development standards, and mentor junior engineers.

Requirements

• BS degree in Computer Science, a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience.
• 3+ years of software development experience with one or more general-purpose programming languages, including Go, Python, Rust, or Ruby.
• Strong experience with modern web technologies, including JavaScript, React, Next.js, and TypeScript.
• Ability to translate complex UI/UX designs into scalable web applications.
• Experience with GraphQL, REST, HTTP, gRPC, and Thrift basics, with the ability to design maintainable APIs.
• Strong organization, prioritization, communication, and collaboration skills in a fully remote environment.
