TL;DR
Senior Prognostics (Data) Engineer (Automotive Prognostics): Designing and deploying production-ready algorithms that predict low-voltage vehicle failures, detect parasitic drains, and assess electrical system health with an accent on vehicle telemetry, degradation modeling, and actionable service interventions. Focus on validating prognostic features in test fleets, tuning alerts and calibrations from field data, and meeting functional safety and regulatory requirements.

Location: Hybrid in Milford or Warren, Michigan; expected to report to the specified location at least 3 times per week. The role may be eligible for relocation benefits.

Company

hirify.global develops vehicles and mobility technologies focused on safety, emissions reduction, and reliability.

What you will do

  • Design, develop, validate, and deploy prognostic algorithms for low-voltage components, lithium-ion batteries, and parasitic drain detection.
  • Model low-voltage system behavior and failure modes while monitoring degradation throughout vehicle life.
  • Pilot prognostic features in development and test fleets and support production rollout.
  • Integrate prognostic outputs with diagnostics, vehicle health management, service tools, and customer-facing notifications.
  • Analyze field data to evaluate alert effectiveness and tune thresholds and calibrations.
  • Apply statistical analysis, anomaly detection, clustering, and signal processing to vehicle telemetry data while aligning strategies with system safety and regulatory requirements.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or Computer Science.
  • At least 5 years of experience in automotive prognostics, diagnostics, embedded controls, or data analytics.
  • Strong experience with Python, major machine learning frameworks, and SQL.

  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, communication, and cross-functional collaboration skills.
  • Ability to turn ambiguous problems into requirements, value propositions, models, and technical solutions.

Nice to have

  • Master’s degree or higher in Engineering or Computer Science.
  • Experience with low-voltage systems, energy storage, power conversion, load management, degradation modeling, or long-term health monitoring.
  • Knowledge of vehicle manufacturing, service, warranty processes, and functional safety standards including ISO 26262 and ASIL.
  • Experience with advanced analytics, LLMs, AI-enabled tooling, PySpark, or MATLAB.

Culture & Benefits

  • Cross-functional collaboration with systems, diagnostics, software, calibration, quality, service, safety, and aftersales teams.
  • Work focused on improving vehicle reliability, reducing walk-home events, and limiting unnecessary warranty expense.
  • Benefits and total rewards designed to support employee well-being at work and at home.
  • Inclusive workplace with equal employment opportunities and accommodations available during the application process.
