Senior Python Developer (Linux)

Location: Work from home 100% of the time or from one of the company's global offices.

What you will do

• Design, build, and maintain Python desktop GUI applications with PyQt5, PyQt6, or PySide for Linux.
• Implement real-time video streaming, decoding, playback, and frame manipulation using OpenCV, GStreamer, FFmpeg, or QtMultimedia.
• Architect multithreaded applications that keep UI event loops responsive during video processing and network operations.
• Integrate applications with Linux services, hardware devices, cameras, display drivers, and IPC mechanisms.
• Package Linux desktop binaries, manage dependencies, and optimize memory and CPU usage for smooth video playback.

Requirements

• 5+ years of professional Python software development experience.
• Strong expertise with PyQt5, PyQt6, or PySide for complex desktop interfaces.
• Strong Linux desktop background, including system libraries, process management, POSIX signals, and packaging.
• Advanced knowledge of multithreading, asyncio, and concurrency in Python.
• Excellent problem-solving, written, and verbal English communication skills.

Nice to have

• Experience with video streaming and media processing, including RTSP, RTP, HLS, low-latency playback, or frame buffer rendering.
• Experience integrating FFmpeg, GStreamer, or OpenCV with Python.
