Software Engineer (Notifications)

Location: San Francisco Bay Area, United States

Salary: $160,000–$180,000 base salary per year, plus equity and benefits

What you will do

• Improve client device experiences for receiving notifications and managing notification preferences.
• Build the notification platform used by teams across the company.
• Partner with Machine Learning engineers to optimize notification signals and quality.
• Maintain operational health and client performance for the notification platform.
• Collaborate with Product and Design leads to balance user experience, delivery speed, and impact.

Requirements

• 2+ years of professional software engineering experience.
• Proficiency in one or more of Python, Elixir, or TypeScript, with willingness to learn new languages and skills.
• Track record of delivering reliable, high-quality software on time.
• Strong attention to detail and a quality-first mindset.
• Ability to support teammates through empathetic feedback and collaborative learning.
• Customer-focused approach and comfort working toward clear, measurable team goals.

Nice to have

• Experience using Discord and understanding its core communication features and flows.
• Previous experience working on notifications or within a growth team.
