TL;DR
Sample Receiving Technician (Entry-level/Non-degree) (Environmental Testing): Handling, documenting, storing, disposing of, packing, and shipping environmental samples in a laboratory setting with an accent on EPA compliance, sample traceability, and accurate records. Focus on resolving sample receipt discrepancies, using LIMS, coordinating courier deadlines, and maintaining safe laboratory operations.
Location: North Kingstown, Rhode Island, USA; candidates must live within a commutable distance. Full-time second shift, Monday–Friday, 1:30 pm–10:00 pm. Training is provided on the first shift, Monday–Friday, 9:00 am–5:30 pm, for 1–2 weeks.
Salary: $18–$20 per hour

What you will do
- Receive, document, store, and dispose of laboratory samples according to SOPs and applicable state and local EPA regulations.
- Identify and communicate sample receipt discrepancies, including incorrect containers, preservation issues, missing bottles, and out-of-specification temperatures.
- Pack and ship samples to outside laboratories while meeting courier arrival times, sample hold times, and nightly FedEx pickup deadlines.
- Prepare client bottle orders and assist with glassware cleaning and general laboratory duties.
- Use the laboratory information management system to track and store sample container information and shipping records.
- Support chemists and technicians while following laboratory safety and health requirements.
Requirements
- High school diploma or GED.
- Authorization to work indefinitely in the United States without restriction or sponsorship.
- Professional working proficiency in English, including reading, writing, and speaking.
- Computer, organizational, communication, and attention-to-detail skills.
- Ability to work independently and in a fast-paced production environment while following instructions and maintaining accurate records.
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
