Engineer (Web Development)

What you will do

• Build and operate internet-scale web services for a global marketplace.
• Work across messaging, payments, translations, file services, and notification systems.
• Develop and maintain backend services using languages such as Python, Golang, PHP, Node.js, or Ruby.
• Contribute to the Angular, TypeScript, and RxJS frontend stack when relevant.
• Deploy code to production multiple times a day in an agile, continuously shipping environment.
• Solve complex engineering and troubleshooting challenges while taking ownership of work.

Requirements

• Tertiary degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
• Proficiency in several web development languages, including Python, Golang, PHP, Node.js, or Ruby.
• Experience with relational databases and SQL, preferably MySQL.
• Experience with Linux, cloud computing, preferably AWS, and web engineering at scale.
• Experience working in an agile team with continuous delivery.
• Strong communication, ownership, self-management, learning, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills.

Nice to have

• Experience with service-oriented, microservice, or containerized architectures.
• Experience developing public-facing APIs.
• Experience with Angular, React, Vue, or TypeScript.
• Knowledge of computer networking, OWASP, and web security practices.
• Strong academic achievements, an MS or PhD, or open-source contributions on GitHub.
