TL;DR
Lead Engineer, Issue Management & Triage (Robotics): Building issue intake, triage, classification, and automation systems for a deployed robotic fleet with an accent on Python, telemetry, data pipelines, and reliability at scale. Focus on designing scalable workflows, translating operational failures into prioritized technical problems, and driving root-cause analysis and long-term fixes across hardware, software, and autonomy.

Location: Austin, Texas, United States preferred; remote possible within the U.S. Remote employees may travel to Austin, Texas, up to approximately 50%, especially during the first 90 days.

What you will do

  • Design and own end-to-end systems for issue intake, triage, escalation, severity classification, and service-level agreements.
  • Build automation, data pipelines, and internal tools to ingest, process, and classify operational data.
  • Contribute to Python and backend codebases and integrate logs, telemetry, alerts, and operational systems.
  • Serve as the technical interface between the Remote Operations Center and Engineering, translating field issues into prioritized technical problems.
  • Develop taxonomies, dashboards, and reporting systems to measure robot performance, failure modes, degradation, severity, and impact.
  • Establish root-cause analysis practices and drive long-term improvements across hardware, software, and autonomy.

Requirements

  • 7+ years of experience in relevant technical or program management roles, including engineering or incident management.
  • 3+ years of people management experience.
  • Experience with complex real-world systems such as robotics, autonomous or distributed systems, or hardware-software products.
  • Strong programming experience, preferably with Python, plus experience with backend or data systems.
  • Experience with data pipelines, telemetry, monitoring, alerting, logging, internal tools, and automation systems.
  • Ability to design scalable classification, prioritization, workflow automation, metrics, and performance frameworks.

Nice to have

  • Familiarity with Jira, Zendesk, SQL, Looker, Foxglove, or similar platforms.
  • Experience working in a fast-paced, scaling environment.
