Location: Hybrid, with at least two days per week or 40% of working time at an office in Bristol, Cardiff, Chester, Edinburgh, Halifax, or Leeds, United Kingdom.

Salary: £114,606–£134,830 per year

What you will do

• Provide specialist legal advice on merchant services, product development, innovation, projects, and rectifications.
• Negotiate customised agreements with customers and suppliers and draft related terms and conditions.
• Support legal, regulatory, industry-change, and transformation projects across banking and legal functions.
• Identify, report, and mitigate legal and governance risks, recommending practical solutions.
• Advise on customer and colleague journey enhancements and maintain strong relationships with business partners.
• Manage panel law firms, support service delivery improvements, and train colleagues and the business.

Requirements

• Qualified as a solicitor in the UK or holding an equivalent qualification.
• At least 8 years of experience in commercial contracts, merchant services, payment-services regulation, or transaction banking services.
• Experience developing and coaching others, with delegated line-management responsibilities.
• Strong ability to build collaborative relationships and influence, advise, and challenge business partners.
• Ability to identify and control legal risks, manage priorities, and support junior colleagues.
• Ability to monitor and communicate regulatory, industry, and legal changes.
