Subcontract Accounts Payable Specialist (Construction)

Location: Buntingford, United Kingdom; the position may involve travel within the UK.

Salary: £35,000–£40,000 per annum.

What you will do

• Process high volumes of subcontractor invoices across UK and international entities.
• Review invoices and applications against subcontracts, purchase orders, variations, budgets, milestones and supporting documentation.
• Manage retention, contra charges, back charges, commercial adjustments, payment schedules and supplier queries.
• Support valuations, monthly CVR, forecasting, cash flow, project reporting, month-end and year-end activities.
• Ensure compliance with CIS, RCT, VAT, reverse charge VAT, withholding tax and jurisdiction-specific invoice requirements.
• Maintain cost trackers, accruals, payment forecasts and records in Microsoft Dynamics while identifying discrepancies, duplicate payments and commercial risks.

Requirements

• Previous experience in Accounts Payable, Subcontract Administration or Commercial Administration.
• Background in construction, engineering, MEP or another project-based industry.
• Experience with overseas subcontractor invoices, international supplier payments, multiple companies and multiple currencies.
• Strong understanding of subcontract payment processes, purchase orders, invoice processing, supplier reconciliation and tax coding.
• Hands-on Microsoft Dynamics ERP experience and strong Excel skills, including Pivot Tables and VLOOKUP/XLOOKUP.
• Excellent numerical accuracy, attention to detail, stakeholder management and communication skills.

Nice to have

• Experience in data centres, construction, engineering or infrastructure.
• Knowledge of Quantity Surveying and commercial management processes, including payment notices, applications for payment, retention and final accounts.
• Experience with Power BI and knowledge of NEC, JCT or FIDIC contracts.
