Salary: $120,500–$158,000 for Senior level; $157,000–$206,000 for Staff level; $181,000–$262,000 for Principal level

What you will do

  • Lead requirements and interface management for Solid Rocket Motor systems through design, development, testing, assembly, integration, flight operations, and delivery.
  • Serve as the SRM Responsible Engineer and oversee supplier activities, technical progress, reviews, and compliance with requirements.
  • Coordinate supplier meetings, manufacturing observations, test operations, post-test data analysis, and technical communication with the propulsion lead.
  • Develop propulsion performance models supporting guidance, navigation, and control.
  • Perform ballistics and thermal analyses and support the design and specification of ground support equipment.
  • Coordinate SRM receiving, inspection, installation, and flight-test range operations.

Requirements

  • Experience designing, developing, testing, and operating solid rocket motors.
  • Experience with aerospace development, systems integration, supplier oversight, and solid rocket motor manufacturing processes.
  • Knowledge of composite case winding and propellant mixing, pouring, and casting.
  • Ability to analyze, interpret, and communicate post-test data and technical challenges to varied audiences.
  • Proficiency with MS Office, Solid Performance Program and/or Chemical Equilibrium with Applications, and scientific coding using Python, MATLAB, Simulink, or C/C++.
  • Bachelor’s degree in an engineering field or equivalent experience; 5–10 years for Senior, 10–20 years for Staff, or 20+ years for Principal level.

Nice to have

  • Experience with rocket motor sizing, configuration trade studies, aerospace-grade hardware, mechanical design, and ASME Y14.5.
  • Familiarity with explosives handling and classification.
  • Experience with ground test hardware, engineering definition, work instructions, and component or subsystem test planning.
  • Experience with NX, CATIA, or SolidWorks and ground support equipment design.
