Body Structures Engineer (Automotive)

Zoox is developing next-generation autonomous mobility vehicles through integrated work across automotive engineering, robotics, AI, and related disciplines.

What you will do

• Conceptualize, design, and lead the development and release of vehicle body components and assemblies.
• Plan component development, release, delivery, and validation schedules.
• Define and negotiate body-system requirements for structural, NVH, and crash performance.
• Support component and vehicle validation testing, material selection, and manufacturing-process decisions.
• Collaborate with styling, packaging, CAE, attribute and test teams, manufacturing, management, and suppliers.
• Develop body design and development processes, procedures, and best practices.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering or an equivalent qualification.
• 4+ years of experience in automotive body-system design or engineering.
• Knowledge of vehicle engineering, body-system fundamentals, materials, manufacturing processes, and component delivery.
• Experience with specifications, DFMEAs, DVPs, PVPs, APQP, DFSS, and other technical and quality-assurance processes.
• Ability to apply GD&T and dimensional-engineering principles.
• Proficiency with CATIA V5 or V6 and strong communication and collaboration skills.

Nice to have

• Experience at an automotive OEM.
• Knowledge of automotive development and release processes.
• Experience with Polarion, Jira, or Confluence.
