Security Engineer, Level 5, Detection & Response (Cybersecurity)

Location: Bellevue, Los Angeles, or Palo Alto; expected to work in an office 4+ days per week

Salary: $178,000–$313,000 annually, depending on U.S. pay zone, skills, experience, qualifications, work location, and market conditions; eligible for RSUs.

What you will do

• Design, pilot, and implement logging and alerting systems across endpoints, infrastructure, networks, and cloud environments.
• Build threat-hunting tools and automation for detecting malicious activity and responding to intrusions.
• Investigate alerting-pipeline events and triage potential security incidents.
• Work with multiple internal teams during incidents and drive response efforts.
• Identify, analyze, and fingerprint adversary tactics, techniques, and procedures across APT and cybercrime activity.
• Use AI tools and high-velocity engineering workflows to ship scalable, secure, production-ready services.

Requirements

• 6+ years of post-Bachelor's security experience, or an equivalent advanced-degree pathway.
• Bachelor's degree in computer science, engineering, information systems, or a related technical field, or equivalent experience.
• Experience in digital forensics, malware analysis, incident management, host or network intrusion detection, or threat intelligence.
• Strong development skills in Python and/or Go.
• Advanced knowledge of operating system internals and competency in at least two of macOS, Windows, Linux, Kubernetes, AWS, and Google Cloud Platform.
• Strong judgment when auditing AI-generated code for architecture, performance, and security risks.

Nice to have

• Threat hunting experience and knowledge of automated threat detection and incident response logic.
• Experience with Google Cloud, Google Workspace, AWS, or similar cloud infrastructure.
• Practical experience with a BeyondCorp model.
• Experience collaborating with internal and external stakeholders at all organizational levels.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills with strong attention to detail.
