Senior Cancer Registrar (Part-Time Consultant / Domain Advisor)

What you will do

• Advise as a subject matter expert on cancer registry data standards, abstraction workflows, and reporting requirements.
• Explain the registry lifecycle from casefinding and abstraction through coding, quality assurance, submission, and feedback.
• Guide technical and product teams on data dictionaries, staging schemas, coding logic, and registrar workflows.
• Review data models, variable mappings, and automation opportunities for alignment with registry standards.
• Participate in remote review meetings and provide feedback on UI/UX mockups, training materials, and registry data-capture prototypes.

Requirements

• Certified Tumor Registrar (CTR) credential in good standing.
• 5–10+ years of hands-on experience in cancer registry operations, ideally across facility-based and central registry settings.
• Experience with cancer case abstraction, staging, coding conventions, data validation, and QA workflows.
• Knowledge of NAACCR-style data items, AJCC, TNM, ICD-O, SSDI, and related coding frameworks.
• Familiarity with registry abstraction and validation tools and reporting to state or national programs.
• Ability to communicate complex registry processes to interdisciplinary technical and product teams.
