Location: Washington, DC; on-site. At least 25% of time is expected to be spent travelling for relevant meetings, conferences, and work at the London office. Candidates must be based in or willing to relocate to Washington, DC.
Salary: USD 200,000–300,000 per year, commensurate with experience. Exceptional qualifications may qualify for higher compensation.

A mission-driven AI safety research startup working with frontier AI labs to study scheming, evaluate models, and develop mitigations for loss-of-control risks.
What you will do
- Communicate AI progress, safety, and security research to U.S. government and intelligence community decision makers.
- Build and manage foundational relationships with policymakers, agencies, and other stakeholders.
- Track relevant bills, acts, governance discussions, and federal and state policy proposals.
- Develop policy submissions, requests for information responses, policy memos, presentations, and demonstrations.
- Brief and support senior leadership before high-stakes meetings, exchanges, panels, workshops, and conferences.
- Help shape and execute the strategic vision for safe and secure AI development and deployment.
Requirements
- Experience communicating complex technological topics to broad stakeholder groups and producing clear, accurate, actionable proposals.
- Experience developing policy communications packages, preparing senior colleagues for high-stakes environments, or drafting legislation and policy frameworks.
- For relationship-focused roles, a trusted Washington, DC network across relevant U.S. government and intelligence community groups.
- For policy and legal research roles, a current understanding of decision-making across the intelligence community and legislative and executive branches.
- Experience working in AI-governance-relevant parts of the U.S. government and a master’s degree or Ph.D. in a related field.
- Must be based in or willing to relocate to Washington, DC.

- Repeated, validated experience drafting relevant legislation and supporting it through successful implementation.
