Manager Accounting II (Utilities)

Location: Charlotte, NC, United States. Hybrid work after onboarding, with at least 3 days in the office; employees must live within a reasonable commute of the designated hirify.global facility.

What you will do

• Manage and develop accounting staff, including coordination with the offshore accounting team.
• Oversee accounting close activities, including journal entries, account reconciliations, deadlines, and accounting conclusions.
• Review internal, SEC, FERC, and state regulatory financial reports and supporting schedules.
• Support fuel inventory, settlements, fuel audits, rate cases, rider filings, and regulatory data requests.
• Coordinate with Rates, FP&A, Treasury, auditors, and other organizations on accounting matters.
• Lead process improvements, efficiency initiatives, special projects, and research into regulatory accounting matters.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Economics, Finance, Accounting, or a related field.
• At least 8 years of related work experience.
• Knowledge of GAAP, FERC accounting guidance, SOX controls, financial reporting, and accounting close processes.
• Ability to lead, delegate, coach staff, manage multiple priorities, and communicate effectively across the organization.
• Must be able to work lawfully in the United States without current or future employment-based immigration sponsorship.
• Reliable transportation and regular onsite attendance are required.

Nice to have

• Big Four or public accounting experience, CPA license, and experience with regulated utility accounting and ratemaking.
• Experience with rate filings, FERC reports, accounting research, position papers, Peoplesoft, OneStream, or FIHUB Cube reporting.
• Familiarity with the FERC chart of accounts and extensive accounting systems experience.
