Head of Engineering, Field Verification (Fintech)

What you will do

• Own the technical strategy, architecture and roadmap for the Field Verification platform.
• Move the platform from maintenance mode to a prioritised development roadmap and grow the engineering organisation.
• Build trip and route optimisation, task allocation and capacity management for field officers.
• Own the APIs, webhooks, back office and client-facing integrations used by onboarding, loans, compliance and fraud teams.
• Deliver a native mobile experience for field officers and prepare the platform for multi-country expansion.
• Ensure verification data is structured, auditable and suitable for compliance scrutiny.

Requirements

• 10+ years of software engineering experience, including substantial hands-on production engineering and strong backend depth.
• At least 5 years of engineering leadership experience, including managing Engineering Managers.
• Experience across backend, web and mobile engineering, with backend experience in Java and Spring Boot.
• Experience building platforms serving multiple user groups and internal business units.
• Ability to translate operational requirements into engineering solutions and collaborate with Product and business stakeholders.
• Must be based in Nigeria for this remote role.

Nice to have

• Experience with location or geospatial data, map integrations, and route, trip or delivery optimisation.
• Experience building compliance-focused systems with structured, auditable data.
• Experience with identity, KYC or verification platforms.
