Field Application Engineer (IoT)

Location: Fernitz bei Graz, Austria; the role includes on-site customer visits and up to 40% travel.

Salary: €3,954 gross per month minimum, with the possibility of a higher offer based on qualifications.

What you will do

• Support the transition of product prototypes into production and provide technical feedback to research and development teams.
• Deploy and install IoT products and customer-specific solutions in coordination with customer project managers.
• Serve as the primary technical contact during deployment and early adoption phases.
• Provide technical guidance, troubleshoot issues, perform root cause analysis, and coordinate resolutions with development teams.
• Conduct on-site installation, troubleshooting, and quality-assurance visits while monitoring solution performance and reliability.
• Create troubleshooting guides, deployment procedures, knowledge-base articles, and improved field-support processes.

Requirements

• University or higher technical college education in computer science, information technology, software engineering, STEM, or equivalent experience.
• At least 3 years of experience as an application engineer or in a similar customer-facing technical role, preferably in IoT, consumer electronics, or SaaS.
• Strong understanding of IoT technologies and networking, including Wi-Fi, Bluetooth Low Energy, Zigbee, and LoRa.
• Experience with software troubleshooting, basic coding or scripting, log analysis tools such as Azure Kusto Query Language, Sumo Logic, or Splunk, and Linux.
• Ability to manage projects, coordinate multiple tasks, analyze complex datasets, and explain technical concepts to technical and non-technical audiences.
• Fluent German and good knowledge of English required; willingness to travel up to 40%.
