Security Scientist (Cybersecurity)

Location: Remote in the United States or onsite at Figma hubs in San Francisco, California, or New York, New York. In-person onboarding is required.

Annual base salary: $140,000–$348,000 USD.

What you will do

• Collaborate with engineering, product, data science, and other teams to address security and anti-abuse problems.
• Create datasets, metrics, and experiments to understand attacker and user behavior and guide security decisions.
• Build detections, tune signal quality, and measure coverage across products, platforms, and internal systems.
• Lead and support security investigations by developing datasets, tooling, and analysis to scope incidents and identify root causes.
• Translate threat intelligence into detection coverage, risk reduction, and protection for high-risk surfaces.
• Conduct security investigations and design reviews to identify current and emerging attack vectors.

Requirements

• Strong understanding of real-world security, anti-abuse, detection, and response challenges.
• Fluency in SQL and proficiency in Python, R, or a similar scripting language.
• Experience with distributed data processing systems such as Hive, Redshift, Presto, Snowflake, or Spark.
• Strong knowledge of statistical methods and experimental design.
• Excellent judgment and creative problem-solving skills.
