Senior Detection and Response Engineer (Fintech)

Location: Hybrid schedule with three days per week onsite in the San Francisco FiDi or Culver City office.

Salary: $170,000–$225,000 USD per year for the Los Angeles, CA range.

What you will do

• Build, tune, and maintain high-fidelity detections as code across SIEM, cloud, endpoint, and identity telemetry.
• Triage and investigate alerts, lead security incident response, and threat-hunt for low-and-slow and insider activity.
• Operationalize threat intelligence and IOC ingestion into detections and edge/WAF rules.
• Develop response playbooks and SOAR automation to reduce manual work and accelerate containment.
• Partner with MDR and incident response providers and run purple-team exercises with red-team security engineers.
• Improve logging coverage and detection efficacy against the MITRE ATT&CK framework.

Requirements

• 4+ years of experience in detection engineering, incident response, or threat hunting.
• Hands-on experience authoring detections in a modern SIEM and investigating AWS, endpoint, and identity data.
• Experience scripting and automating with Python or similar tools.
• Technical familiarity with AWS, Kubernetes, Datadog or Splunk, SentinelOne, CrowdStrike, and Terraform.
• B.A. or B.S. in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Information Security, or equivalent relevant experience.
• Ability to work independently, communicate effectively, solve problems creatively, and take ownership of outcomes.

Nice to have

• Experience in regulated environments, fintech, or financial services.
• Cyber threat intelligence or insider-threat detection experience.
