Senior Software Engineer (Quantum Computing)

What you will do

• Design and maintain low-level drivers and hardware abstraction layers for signal generators, AWGs, digitizers, and custom FPGA-based instruments.
• Define hardware/software interfaces that separate control electronics from higher-level experiment logic.
• Collaborate with physicists and researchers to align software models and interfaces with experimental requirements.
• Drive the technical roadmap, architectural strategy, and cross-organizational alignment.
• Lead architecture reviews, challenge assumptions, and mentor engineers across the platform department.

Requirements

• 8+ years of experience designing low-level software close to hardware.
• Advanced Python skills for clean abstractions and synchronization mechanisms in hardware/software interaction loops.
• Experience with real-time constraints, timing accuracy, low-latency communication, and hardware control.
• Hands-on experience developing drivers or low-level interfaces using technologies such as VISA, SCPI, PCIe, Ethernet/UDP, or custom protocols.
• Strong understanding of digital signal processing, including sampling, filtering, modulation/demodulation, waveform generation, and acquisition.
• Technical leadership skills and the ability to collaborate with physicists, academic-level experts, and technical researchers.

• Experience with automation systems such as schedulers, workflow engines, configuration graphs, or data pipelines.
• Product mindset focused on end-to-end delivery, user experience, reliability, and lifecycle management.
• Experience delivering hardware-backed products to external users.
