Senior Software Engineer (Ruby/TypeScript)

Location: Helsinki, Uusimaa, Finland; hybrid workplace with remote work and the option to work abroad for up to 30 days annually

What you will do

• Design and build a reporting engine for flexible analytical views across advertising data.
• Develop and operate backend services for high-volume analytical workloads.
• Create interfaces and abstractions for integrating advertising channels into a unified platform.
• Work across Ruby, TypeScript, Kafka, ClickHouse, and PostgreSQL/Citus from design through production.
• Improve architecture, performance, reliability, maintainability, and engineering practices.
• Mentor engineers and contribute to technical direction and design discussions.

Requirements

• Experience building and operating large-scale, highly available backend systems.
• Strong understanding of performance, reliability, distributed systems, and relational database fundamentals.
• Experience with concurrent background workloads, asynchronous processing, or event-driven architectures such as Kafka.
• Strong software design skills, including abstractions, interfaces, testing, and maintainability.
• Hands-on technical ownership from exploration and design through production.
• Clear communication and experience mentoring engineers and collaborating across teams.

Nice to have

• Experience with PostgreSQL, ClickHouse, OLAP workloads, query generation, abstract syntax trees, compiler concepts, or domain-specific languages.
