Intermediate Security Engineer (Cybersecurity) (SIRT): Detecting, investigating, and resolving security incidents for GitLab.com and GitLab with an accent on incident response automation, cloud investigations, and security operations. Focus on leading 24/7 incident response, building automated detection and response capabilities, analyzing infected hosts, and strengthening security processes through runbooks and post-incident reviews.

What you will do
- Lead security incident response in a 24/7 rotation from detection through containment and recovery.
- Investigate, analyze, and resolve security events using incident response automation and security infrastructure.
- Create and maintain incident response documentation, including runbooks and standard procedures.
- Conduct root-cause analysis and lessons-learned reviews after incidents.
- Design automated security processes and improve detection and response capabilities.
- Collaborate across teams on security capabilities and infrastructure projects.
Requirements
- Ability to learn and lead incident response processes independently.
- Experience with SIEM or security logging tools.
- Experience with GCP and/or AWS cloud platforms.
- Python programming skills or a strong willingness to learn Python.
- Proactive approach to identifying and investigating security threats, including interest in forensic analysis of infected hosts.
- Willingness to work a compressed four-day schedule, with shifts running Sunday through Wednesday or Wednesday through Saturday.
