Security Engineer (Fintech)

Location: Remote from the United Kingdom, Hungary, Ireland, Poland, Portugal, Romania, or South Africa

What you will do

• Plan and deliver security detection and response initiatives from new detection rules through automated response.
• Build, tune, and maintain detections across Elastic SIEM and AWS, closing gaps in existing coverage.
• Triage, investigate, escalate, and resolve security incidents while documenting findings clearly.
• Build runbooks and Python or no-code automations with tools such as Zapier and Tines.
• Make and document risk decisions, support SOC 2 and PCI DSS audit readiness, and contribute evidence for audits.
• Participate in the on-call rotation for incident response and monitoring.

Requirements

• Hands-on experience building and tuning SIEM detections; Elastic is preferred, with Splunk, Sentinel, or similar experience also considered.
• Experience with AWS and cloud-native detection and response.
• Comfortable using Python for scripting and automation.
• Experience with Terraform or other infrastructure-as-code tools.
• Working knowledge of MITRE ATT&CK and practical experience triaging, investigating, and resolving security incidents.
• Clear and structured written communication.

Nice to have

• Experience with no-code security automation or SOAR-style tooling.
• Exposure to PCI DSS, SOC 2, or ISO 27001 compliance frameworks.
• Background in fintech, payments, or another regulated industry.
