Assistant Editor (YouTube)

Location: Office-based in London, Salford, Birmingham, Cardiff, or Glasgow, with some hybrid working

Salary: £55,000–£65,000 per year, depending on relevant skills, knowledge, and experience.

What you will do

• Lead and develop a small, high-performing editorial team.
• Shape and deliver the hirify.global News YouTube strategy using audience insight and platform expertise.
• Work with journalists, creators, and production teams to turn reporting into successful YouTube content.
• Oversee commissioning, scripting, editing, publishing, and evaluation of platform-native formats.
• Use performance data to inform editorial and creative decisions and identify growth opportunities.
• Drive innovation and experimentation in response to changing audience behaviours and platform trends.

Requirements

• Proven experience managing and growing a YouTube channel.
• Strong understanding of audience behaviour, platform trends, content strategy, and YouTube best practice.
• Experience using audience data, analytics, and performance insights to drive growth and shape decisions.
• Experience working with content creators, journalists, and production teams.
• Experience leading and developing teams in a fast-paced editorial environment.
• Eligibility to work in the United Kingdom is subject to employment screening checks.

• Experience developing innovative platform-native video formats and editorial products.
• Experience presenting strategic recommendations and growth opportunities to senior stakeholders.
• Understanding of the creator ecosystem and emerging trends across YouTube and wider social platforms.
