Working Student Software Development (AI)

Location: Stuttgart, Germany; mobile working is possible, but Stuttgart is the main place of work.

What you will do

• Capture and structure project knowledge, workflows, constraints, design decisions, and best practices for AI tools.
• Help develop and roll out an AI-based Knowledge Interview tool, including AI-supported interviews with engineers and domain experts.
• Prepare, structure, and validate technical knowledge for AI assistants and agents.
• Contribute to the development and evaluation of AI agents for hardware commissioning, test case creation, debugging, and analysis of logs, traces, and system behavior.
• Create small tools, Python scripts, and automation workflows.
• Document findings, limitations, and improvement opportunities while collaborating with engineers, architects, and AI tooling experts.

Requirements

• Current enrollment in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Embedded Systems, Software Engineering, Data Science, Mechatronics, or a related technical field.
• Strong interest in applying AI to large-scale embedded development projects and understanding complex technical systems.
• Good programming skills, preferably in Python, with practical experience from university projects, internships, open-source contributions, or similar work.
• Experience with Linux, analytical problem-solving, attention to detail, and a structured working style.
• Open and proactive communication, collaboration skills, and a willingness to ask questions and seek support.
• Enrollment must be maintained throughout employment; working time is limited to up to 20 hours per week during the lecture period.

Nice to have

• Experience with embedded systems, hardware-near software, testing, or debugging.
• Knowledge of Docker, GitLab CI/CD, Kubernetes, Grafana, or similar tools.
• Interest in AI agents, LLM-based tools, automation, developer productivity, knowledge management, or structured documentation.
