What you will do
- Lead the AI Engineering team, including hiring, mentoring, and developing engineers.
- Build and govern the central AI platform using AWS Bedrock and an LLM gateway such as LiteLLM or Portkey.
- Define the architecture for internal AI tools and MCP servers, including RAG pipelines, vector search, LLM integrations, and conversational interfaces.
- Set engineering standards for code quality, testing, CI/CD, monitoring, model evaluation, and incident response.
- Partner with product, operations, commercial, security, and compliance teams to prioritize use cases and meet regulatory obligations.
- Remain hands-on with architecture, code reviews, and critical implementation work.
Requirements
- 7+ years of software engineering experience, including at least 3 years in technical leadership.
- Experience hiring, developing, and retaining engineering talent.
- Strong backend fundamentals in API design, microservices, distributed systems, and production operations; Python proficiency required.
- Hands-on experience with AI gateways or model routing layers, including guardrails, token limits, observability, and cost management.
- Working knowledge of RAG, vector search, LLM evaluation, MCP servers, and tool-calling or agent integration patterns.
- Experience with CI/CD, Docker, Kubernetes, infrastructure-as-code, data security, PII handling, access controls, and data classification; fluent English required.
Nice to have
- Experience in regulated telecommunications or financial services environments.
- Knowledge of ISO 27001 or GSMA SAS requirements.
